Gender Studies Minor

18 credit hours

By adding the Gender Studies minor to your major, you can acquire a variety of marketable skills, such as writing, public speaking, critical thinking, conflict resolution, and diversity training. The minor’s interdisciplinary and global perspectives can give you a competitive edge on the job market and can enhance virtually any career path you choose. You can learn how to analyze and think critically about gender constructions across different historical periods, cultures, and global practices. In addition to its focus on the history and achievements of women, marginalized populations, and various identity intersections, the minor will also introduce you to scholarship about men's lives, masculinity, and the lives of people who identify along the LGBTQIA+ spectrum. Add the minor for an opportunity to learn how to foster the growth of a community of scholars, citizens, and activists across many disciplines and programs.
