HIS 31400 Economic History of America
This course will utilize the history of the United States as a method of studying economics. By examining the history of American business and economic issues, students will investigate the following: markets and economic systems and the causes of their changes over time; the impact of economic concepts on governmental decisions, business development, and national growth; different segments of the economy and their evolving interdependence, and the impact of technologies and entrepreneurship on that evolutionary process; the impact of economic decisions by business leaders, governmental officials, and workers on the American political economy; the role of government in shaping and regulating the economy, along with the political, economic, and social consequences of that changing role.
