EDU 50900 Analysis and Correction of Reading Difficulties

This course is designed to teach the diagnostic/prescriptive process necessary to deal with readers at various levels in
the classroom. Students learn to use and analyze a variety of informal and standardized diagnostic reading tests appropriate for individual and group diagnosis. Students also learn to use commercial and teacher-made materials in conjunction with basal readers to provide appropriate instruction. Students are expected to work with a problem reader during the course. This course is to be taken concurrently with EDU 52200 for students working towards early childhood, early childhood special education, and elementary education certification.
