HIST 36200 The Atlantic World
This seminar-style course examines the historical interaction among Europeans, Africans, and indigenous peoples in the Atlantic world from a global perspective. Themes will include the rise and fall of European empires in the Americas; the Atlantic slave trade, the creation of African American cultures, and the abolition of slavery; and the relationships European, African, and American (North American, Caribbean, and Latin American) societies between 1400 and 1900.
