The Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice provides students with interdisciplinary views of the criminal justice system. Students in this major will be required to complete 51-57-semester hours of credit beyond the general education requirements. The curriculum explores theories related to the causation of crime and criminal behavior as well as the meaning and application of legal principles directly impacting law enforcement, court systems, and the correctional environments. This program nurtures a realistic understanding of the study of crime and its impact on society. Students in this program will be introduced to instructors whose professional experience enhances understanding of the criminal justice field. The combination of theoretical and practical knowledge will help better prepare students for criminal justice careers as well as advanced academic study. IMH 14200 (Basic Statistics) is required for the major, which may be used to fulfill a general education elective requirement. An additional GE-Math course is required for this major, which may be used to fulfill the mathematics general education requirement.
