Major Coursework
33 credit hours of coursework from the following options:
Native speakers of Spanish and highly competent students may be waived up to 15 credit hours of required courses in the language sequence: SPA 10100, SPA 10200, SPA 20100, SPA 20200, and SPA 30500. Such students must take as many upper-level courses as needed to complete the 39 credit hours required for the major and consult with Spanish faculty.
Practical Application Coursework
Students must select Option 1 (6 credit hours), Option 2 (6 credit hours), or Option 3 (12 credit hours.) Each option has a set of specific requirements.

Prerequisite for semester-long study abroad: SPA 31000 and SPA 32500 with a C or better, or permission of the dean
All students majoring in Spanish must complete all courses beyond the 20200-level with a grade of C or better.
All students majoring in Spanish and completing a study abroad experience for credit in the program must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 and the approval of the program.
