ARTH 36900 History of Graphic Design

This course is the study of the history of graphic design from its appearance in prehistory to the present with an emphasis on the influence of technology, culture, major artistic movements, and socio-political factors on the evolution of graphic design. The work and philosophies of historically significant design movements, designers, and design firms will be studied in depth through readings, lectures, as well as technical application. This class may require the use of a virtual reality headset identified by the instructor.
