SPMGT 27040 Sport Management Experience II: Intercollegiate Athletics in Practice

This two (2) credit hour course, offered in partnership with Lindenwood University Athletics, is designed to build upon SPMGT 27030 – Sport Management Experience 1. Students will continue to connect sport management theory to practice through class lecture and experiential learning opportunities within Lindenwood’s Athletic Department. However in this course, in addition to the experiential learning opportunities that come from working various athletic events, students will learn and be tasked with creating documents and developing content contributing to and positively impacting the various functional area business objectives of the department. These tasks might include creating game day scripts, the writing of press releases, conducting a facility audit or risk assessment, being responsible for managing a promotional event during a game, setting up the equipment or technology for an event, or assisting with the logistical planning for team travel or other operations. Students will be expected to attend classes as well as schedule availability for experiential learning opportunities throughout the semester.
