MUS 14101 Music Theory I

This course is divided into two components: sight-singing and music analysis. Sight-singing includes singing short melodies at sight, major and minor scales, intervals up to and including an octave, and verbalization of rhythmic exercises. Analysis includes chords, cadences, non-harmonic tones, melodic organization, texture and textural reduction, species counterpoint, and voice leading in four-part chorale writing.
