PS 38510 Ideology and International Relations
In this course, you will explore how political ideology shapes international and domestic politics. The global system has been deeply unsettled in recent years and political ideology is central to international debates over the global economy, the environment, pandemic management, and other critical areas. This course will help you understand and analyze debates in a sophisticated manner, as well as enriching your understanding of twentieth century history. You will examine ideological perspectives ranging from the democratic to the totalitarian, exploring how and why ideology was critical both to past events, such as the Second World War, and ongoing ones, such as the increasingly sharp confrontation between the United States and China.
