BIO 34900 Genetic Engineering

This course covers the fundamental roles of nucleic acids and proteins within cells and how direct manipulation of the genetics of the organism can produce new traits.  Gene transfers in nature in addition to specific methods of introducing genes into viruses, bacteria, plant, and animal cells will be emphasized.  Biology majors will understand the tools of genetic engineering that can be used in research in genetics and cell biology.
