HIS 32400 US Popular Culture

This course examines one of the most prevailing sources of cultural artifacts and meanings in the United States namely popular culture.nbsp In this class we will examine historically the shifts and the significance of popular culture throughout the history of the United States.nbsp We will begin by attempting to define popular culture then moving into a chronological examination of differing forms of popular culture and what they can tell us about the context of their development.nbsp Throughout the course we continually reexamine the debates about the worth of popular culture and its relationship to American class race and gender relationships.
