CINE 34400 Horror Cinema

This course will examine cinematic horror and track its evolution from the silent era to the modern age. In doing so, an attempt will be made to compile a list of accepted criteria to produce a working definition of the genre, as well as explore theories regarding the genre’s enduring appeal and marketability. Landmark feature films and clips of varying length will be shown to illustrate notable periods, personnel, sub-genres, and phases of the genre cycle.
