EDU 34615 Integrated STEM Education for Educators
The purpose of this course is to equip students with the necessary knowledge, skills, and dispositions to be an effective teacher of Integrated STEM Education. This course is designed to immerse students in learning experiences that will provide them with a robust understanding of Integrated STEM Education teaching and learning. Students will describe, compare, and implement a variety of instructional and assessment strategies, identify a variety of resources for effective instruction in STEM Education, and will develop lessons based on reform-based and 21st Century recommendations (i.e., constructivism, inquiry, engineering design, and science literacy). Students will be required to complete the 10-hour STEM Internship Experience (embedded within EDU 34615) to complete this course. This experience is designed to provide students the opportunity to engage in a STEM experience in a local business/organization. Potential placements include the St. Louis Zoo, St. Louis Science Center, Boeing, the World Bird Sanctuary, the Humane Society, etc…
