HIST 32400 The Growth of Modern America, 1877-1914

This course spans American history from the end of Reconstruction (1877) to 1914. Its main focus is on the social, political, economic, and cultural aspects of the period with particular emphasis on the role of the period in shaping modern-day America. This course utilizes the period to examine the development and impact of industrialization, urbanization, technology, and transportation on the United States; the rise of consumer culture; changing ideologies; and reform movements.
